Guide for the Perplexed

Moses Maimonides (1137-1204), the Medieval Jewish philosopher, jurist, physician and scholar combined Jewish religious and moral argument with enlightened Arab rationalism. His life and work personify a fruitful relationship between the two cultures - today at war. This documentary follows his footsteps of from Cordoba, through Fes, Acre, Jerusalem and Hebron to Cairo where he died. In a reflexive story of a “filmed research” contemporary political events are played against Maimonides’ biography. Maimonides will comment on them in his own, often ironic, words.

A film about a memory and a possibility of intellectual co-existence.
